Numbering pages in MS Word, MLA formatting
 
Make sure you are on the correct tab: INSERT
insert
 
Look to the right and find Page Number: Choose Top of Page, then Plain Number 3.

Be sure to change the font to Times New Roman 12, and use the ALIGN RIGHT button to move your name and page number to the right hand side of the page.

 
 
Note: If someone else has the same last name as you, put your first initial in front of your last name (example: S. Smith). If someone else has the same last name and first initial, usually the middle initial is added, but consult with your instructor as to his preference.
 
 
Now your header should look like this:

Click in the body of your paper so that the header turns gray. You are using MLA formatting correctly, and MS Word will now number your pages
